Great Heights

My friend Kassie snapped these photos on Emma's (of Smile Me Pretty) roof on our last day in NYC. I loved the view from up there, you could see the George Washington bridge in Manhattan that crosses over to New Jersey, I believe. Roof tops were such a cool thing in New York because you could see so much more of the city. You don't really realize how big the city is until you're above it all.
I borrowed this top from Emma and now I kind of wish I didn't give it back ;) (sorry Emma!) It's the perfect subtle bohemian top and such a staple for hot summer days. I'll be on the hunt for one of my own now I guess!

Brooklyn

I'm back from my trip to New York City! I had such a great time visiting my friends, adventuring the streets of manhattan, devouring tons of delicious food, checking out museums and galleries, and of course taking as many photos as I could (I'm sure those of you who follow me on Instagram saw in more detail!). Even though we tried to cram as many things in a few days as possible, I was able to shop a bit. When I saw this faux leather jacket while in Soho, I immediately had to have it. It's perfect for hot days when I want to add a bit of edginess to my shorts and tees. This was pretty much my uniform for the entire trip!
We snapped these photos while in Brooklyn after eating all morning at Smorgasburg. I really loved Brooklyn and all the cute shops and apartments. It really reminded me of home in Portland.

Currently: NYC

As you're reading this, I am currently wandering the streets of New York City for the first time with my friend Emma of Smile Me Pretty! I will be back soon to post all about my adventure. Make sure and follow me on Instagram, as I'm sure I will be posting lots of pictures during my trip! I would love any recommendations of your favorite NYC spots!

Beach White

What is it about vacation and the beach that makes me want to wear white? I love running on the beach in these ripped up jeans. They were the perfect staple to have for the weekend. Especially since the Oregon Coast always has a pretty mild temperature, I was perfectly comfy in my jeans and tee. My feet were super happy in my New Balances too since we did a lot of walking around the town. I will definitely be packing these with me on my trip to NYC!

Seaside

I had a busy last couple of days spending time with my mom and little brother. They came to visit me so I got to show them around Portland a bit and then we spent the day in Seaside, OR! The weather was too good to be true, especially from our beach front hotel room! It was so great to spend a few days with them laughing, running on the beach, and eating lots of delicious food. The hardest part is having to say good bye. Counting down the days until I get to see them again.
These are just a few snapshots from the weekend we had!

Summer in the City

A black jumpsuit is one of those staple items that I believe every girl needs in her wardrobe. They are the most comfortable, easy, and chic garment that I can think of. I wore this during the first day of Sasquatch Music Festival, and it was so perfect for walking around, dancing, and staying cool and comfy. I'm planning on bringing it along with me for my days in New York...it'll be perfect for wandering around the city! I thought this necklace would be the perfect statement piece for the jumpsuit. It's all handmade and I love all of the threads! It's such a unique piece, so perfect to add character to any outfit.

In the Garden

Another set of photos from my shoot with Elisabeth! This hat is one of my favorites. I thought it would be fun to pair with the super girly top. It reminds me so much of Alexa Chung!
The Portland Nursery was such a perfect backdrop to these photos. I really can't wait to go back and to share more with you all.
10 days until I leave for New York City! Make sure and follow me on Instagram for all my updates! (@themoptop)

Green House

I finally got the opportunity to collab with the super creative and mega talented photographer Elisabeth of Elisabeth Rose Photography. I'd been admiring her work for quite awhile, so I was so excited to shoot some outfits with her at the Portland Nursery. It was such a glowing, sunny day with the sweet aroma of fresh flowers. Seriously, dreamy. She captured the essence of it all so perfectly.
I've been obsessing over this necklace for the past week or so. I love how dramatic it is, it definitely makes a statement against a plain tee. I thought it was the perfect girly touch against the rugged tee and boots.
More photos from my shoot with Elisabeth to come! Make sure and check out her work!

Boyfriend

Anybody else crazy about boyfriend jeans too? They just make a simple tee look so cool and effortless. I love all of the rips and shredding of these too. Even though they might be a tad too big, I kind of like the look of them baggy.
I think I've said before how much I love to mix prints and textures. An easy way to mix almost any two prints is by styling in the same color palette. So I thought my cow print clutch would look so funky with my striped tee. I love the combination!
