State of Mind

Finally back with a blog post! The rainy weather has been back in Portland, which has made it difficult for blog photos. But I ended up taking photos in the rain anyways!
Even though the rain can be a pain for photos, I have been loving the cooler weather. I've been taking full advantage of it and snuggling up in my favorite sweaters and coats. Im sure you all have noticed my bit of obsession with New York after my visit there. So obviously I had to get this sweater the moment I saw it. It's just a bit of a reminder when I wear it to have that New York state of mind and remember the dream I'm chasing!
Also, Garage clothing just opened up a new store location in the Clackamas mall out here in Portland! I went and checked it out a couple weeks ago, and I highly suggest it if you get the chance!

Fall, I never realized how much I missed you.
Here are some photos that have me even more inspired for the colder months.
Happy Thursday!

Country Fields

I'm back from visiting my dad's, and saying I miss it so much would be a complete understatement. I wish I was still there gazing out over the wheat fields and drinking coffee in the hammock.
There's no better piece of clothing to fit the scene than a pair of overalls. I felt like a true country girl jumping through the weeds and tall grass.
I'll be counting down the days until I go back.

Time Away

You don't really realize how much you miss your family until you're away for some time and you go and visit. My Dad always says it's just a part of growing up, but if you ask me that part kind of sucks. I've been having a great time the last couple of days visiting my Dad. I even got to see my Mom and little brother on the way up here! I love being able to get away from the city for a bit and just relax and clear my head. The views out here are seriously unbelievable...if only it was right down the road from me.

Beyond City Limits

I snapped these photos just before sunset, which is one of my favorite times of the day. I love the light glow of the sun and just unwinding from the day. The dogs and I just spent a little bit of time exploring the tall grass.
This sweater is without a doubt a staple for me for the upcoming colder months. I have been wearing it so much, despite the still warm weather...it's just too cozy to take off! I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot more of it on here!

See Through

Most of the time you can catch me wearing something very tomboy or casual, mostly because that's who I was and what I wore growing up. I've had rough times in the past dealing with rude comments from others and even a stranger, when I was in the 5th grade, asked if I was a boy or a girl. That day has stuck with me forever. Why is it that there are those people assume that girls should be dressed in heels and a dress, curled hair, perfect makeup just to be the stereotypical/ideal "girl". Well I think it's bullshit. And I am happy to know that today I can say I feel just as beautiful in a menswear blazer, jeans, and tee as much as I do in this sheer, lace maxi.
So ladies...WEAR WHAT YOU WANT!

With a Little Help From my Friends

One of the greatest gifts is having friends that have great style too. It can be so fun talking about new trends that were into or not into, inspiring each other, and best of all...borrowing clothes! I knew the moment I saw these shorts that I wanted to borrow them from my friend Sam. They're the ideal piece to transition from Summer into Fall, especially since it's been super hot still here in Portland.
Also, I have finally found my dream chelsea boot! I used to wear them so much a couple years ago (I don't know if you guys remember), but I wore them until they were basically destroyed! I hope to do the same with these...and they remind me of The Beatles! What's not to love? ;)

I always have that go-to outfit, even though it constantly changes, I feel like I always have one. Lately it's been anything with my Madewell jeans and hat. And since I got these Jeffrey Campbells, I seriously can't take them off. I could definitely see this being my go-to outfit for awhile, and changing it up with a different shirt and/or hat. I just love how simple it is and how confident it makes me feel....and isn't that what all outfits should feel like?

Game Changer

The recent discovery of t-shirt dresses has been a bit of revolution for me. They are great for dressing down (like in this post) or dressing up a bit (previous post). They were even perfect for traveling and walking around town. Let's just say I'm a fan!
Is anybody else loving the whole tie around the waist thing? I know I've said it before, but I think it's such a cool way to add a layer to a look...and it's super 90s! As a kid of the 90s, I'm all about bringing them back.
