Change is Good

(Coat: c/o BB Dakota, Pants and Sweater: UO, Boots: Vintage)

This has been the perfect coat ever this winter. I love the giant hood for the rainy days and the big bold stripes. Just as I said in the last post, red has been my favorite thing to wear lately to bring some color into my looks. It was a rainy, beautiful day when I took these photos. I usually don't take outfit photos on days it rains because it can be complicated but it was kind of fun taking these photos.

Tomboy

(Tank: Anthropologie, Jacket and Pants: UO, Shoes: Sam Edleman)

It's funny to admit that I used to hate wearing red. But something changed and now I can't get enough of it! I wear a lot of neutral colored pieces and I think red fits in perfectly with it all and adds a fun unexpected pop of color. I've also been inspired by military style clothing, like items with patches and army green. This is one of my more casual and comfortable outfits.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and any other holidays you might have celebrated! I had a great time seeing all of my family, but I got sick on Christmas! I spent all of yesterday in bed trying to get better so hopefully I get rid of it soon. I hope none of you are fighting of the winter flu bug either!

DIY Mason Jar (waterless) Snow Globe

This might be the simplest but cutest DIY I've ever done. I've been seeing these jar snow globes all over the internet and I thought they would make for a great gift! They didn't take very long and I was so pleased in how they turned out. I didn't plan on making a tutorial but I got a couple of requests on how I made them so here's a simplified version!

What you'll need:
-Jars
-Fake Snow
-Fake Trees and/or Figurines
-Glitter
-Glue
-Twine

Before I started, I painted the lids of the jars to make them all match. I did this the night before to ensure that they would be dry.

The first step I did was glue the trees and other figurines to the bottom of the jars. I even added some more glitter to my trees by hot gluing dots or lines and then spreading glitter on them. After adding the trees, I glued the fake snow around the bottom of the lid to cover the bottom. Once the fake snow was down, I sprinkled some glitter on the top.

It is optional whether or not you want to glue twine around the entire lid or tie a bow. I alternated to make some different than others.
That's it! Super easy and super adorable!
There many other ways to make these, just check out Pinterest for more tutorials and inspiration.
Good luck and Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Revolution

(Hat: Free People, Coat: c/o Sheinside, Blouse: Thrifted, Pants and Shoes: UO)

This has literally been my uniform lately (pun intended since the look is army/military inspired). I'm sure you all know I am a sucker for neutrals and army green has been my favorite lately. When I saw Alexa Chung recently for Nylon Magazine, I was so inspired by her military inspired hat. I wear hats all the time so I really wanted to try this look out for myself and I am so glad I did. I've already got two hats similar to this! I can't get enough, I just love the boyish touch to my looks especially when I wear lipstick or a dress.

I've really been enjoying winter break lately! Being able to relax and not think about school work has been very nice! Hope you guys are enjoying the winter months and holidays!

Winter Pastels

(Coat: Free People, Skirt: American Apparel, Shoes: Vintage)

I love wearing pastels during the wintertime, they seem to blend in perfectly with the snowy weather. Yes, believe it or not...we got a little bit of snow here in Portland! It's been super cold here too, so I've been having to bundle up with warm layers or a hot coffee. These photos were taken awhile back for the new Seventeen issue, make sure and grab the December catalog and find me on page 38!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend, I've got a lot of studying to do!

What's on your list this Christmas?

Christmas list 2013!

Here's a collage of the items that are on my list this year! I've been really into anything plaid lately, so a black and white plaid dress is definitely on my list. A pair of black chelsea boots is a huge staple for me, and my old ones are worn out!
I can't wait to spend the holidays with my family and eat some yummy food. What is your favorite part about this time of the year?

Bridge & Burn

(Coat: Bridge & Burn, Blouse: Bridge & Burn, Pants: UO, Shoes: Free People)

Sorry for the photo overload, but I couldn't help it! I was so happy how these photos turned out (a BIG thank you to my boyfriend for taking them). I also couldn't be happier to collaborate with a local Portland brand, Bridge & Burn. Erik, the owner of the company, started off just designing graphic tees and his brand blossomed into something so wonderful. It's so inspiring to meet people like him, especially when they're local too! Bridge & Burn's pieces are very classic but have a modern twist. This coat is one of my favorites from the new collection. I love the double buttons and the giant hood, it's makes it so comfy! I thought this red top was a perfect touch of color for this look too...you can never go wrong with a great floral print.

Thistle and Pine

(Hat: Anthropologie, Sweater: American Apparel, Shirt: Thrifted, Pants: Urban Outfitters)

This sweater has been a perfect go to item to stay warm, and it's reversible! It's really great for layering too since it has a wide neck opening. This is really nice for extra warmth too.
I'm pretty excited for Thanksgiving tomorrow! A lot of my family will be in town and I can't wait for all of the good food. I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving for those of you who are celebrating it!
